The exam is planned to be offered in English, Traditional Chinese and Portuguese from February 2027. The Official Handbook (Basic Level) is now available on Amazon in English, Portuguese and Traditional Chinese (e-book); the Advanced Level is planned in Japanese for mid-December 2026.

- In Japan, the exam is held twice a day: Session 1 (10:00–11:00) and Session 2 (14:00–15:00), Japan time; you choose one of the two sessions. The exam lasts 60 minutes. For the exam outside Japan, see “Taking the exam from outside Japan” below.
- The application deadline is 23:59 (Japan time) on the last day of the application period.
- The exam dates and application periods for the 2nd (May) and 3rd (September) exams are planned. Any changes will be announced on this page.
- Before applying, please check How to Take the Exam and the Legal Notice under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (rules on cancellations and refunds).
- From November 2027, the Basic Level is planned to be held four times a year (February, May, September and November) and the Advanced Level three times a year (May, September and November, on the Sunday one week after the Basic Level). Specific dates will be announced once decided.

Outside Japan
Taking the exam from outside Japan (planned)
The exam is planned to be held in English, Traditional Chinese and Portuguese from the 1st exams in 2027 (February for the Basic Level, March for the Advanced Level), for both levels. The English exam follows the Japanese schedule, except in May, when it is held one week later. Other dates shown on this site are for the Japanese-language exam held in Japan.
